Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital (LCH) is the clinical home of the Department of Pediatrics Wake Forest School of Medicine-Charlotte campus. Based in Charlotte, NC, Levine Children’s Hospital is the largest children’s hospital in North Carolina and has been repeatedly been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a Best Children’s Hospital, receiving this nationally recognized designation of excellence in 8 Pediatric clinical areas. There are 167 pediatric specialists, and 145 general pediatricians in the pediatric department in the Charlotte region.

The REACH (Research Excellence and Advancing Children’s Health) Program is a centralized pediatric research team based on the Charlotte campus, providing research infrastructure and staff to serve diverse and growing Pediatric research needs across the region. There are over 90 active clinical studies, enrolling participants from premature infants through adolescence and across the lifespan. The REACH Team supports multiple Pediatric clinical research consortia and investigators, with projects supported by NIH, CDC, PCORI, industry and multiple specialty foundations. The STRIVE Research Clinics, established in 2020, are pediatric research sites designed and developed to support pediatric researchers and their participants in the region. We have 2 locations to allow children and families to readily participate in research by providing clinical sites, with family rooms, play areas, and exam rooms for participants of all ages for brief or extensive visits. We have full time phlebotomists with advanced laboratory capabilities, investigational pharmacy support, research program coordinators and managers, research nurses and coordinators, all designed to support a comprehensive range of research needs. We are designed to help diverse children and families work with investigators to answer questions that will lead to healthier futures!
