At Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine, we are dedicated to advancing pediatric health through innovative research. Dr. Fida Bacha, who leads our laboratory at the Children’s Nutrition Research Center (CNRC), spearheads our efforts in studying the risk factors and mechanisms behind metabolic complications related to childhood obesity and insulin resistance. Focusing on youth-onset type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease risk, and subclinical atherosclerosis, Dr. Bacha’s lab utilizes state of the art methodology to understand the pathophysiology of these disorders in children and adolescents. Supported by our committed research coordinators, nurses, and staff, our team strives to deepen our understanding of these diseases, so that more targeted prevention and intervention strategies can be implemented.
