About Our Site: Children's Healthcare of Atlanta/Emory University
Emory University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics is the primary academic partner of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, which is the only free-standing pediatric health system in Georgia. Children’s is situated near the heart of downtown Atlanta and has more than 1.2 million patient visits annually. The Center for Advanced Pediatrics (CAP) at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is a 260,000 square foot outpatient clinic facility that utilizes a multidisciplinary, coordinated care approach to provide treatment to children and adolescents with chronic diseases and complex care needs by enabling access to multiple specialized health services in one place. The center brings together over 20 pediatric specialties under one roof, harnessing the expertise and skills of more than 450 physicians and staff. The center’s multidisciplinary framework merges both clinical and research services to provide patients with optimal treatment options and state of the art care.

All visits for DISCOVERY will occur in the Pediatric Research Unit (PRU) located on the 5th floor of the CAP.  The PRU offers access to many of Children’s clinical services and departments, including radiology, EKGs, and a clinical laboratory for research only studies. The PRU staff consists of research nurses trained to perform intravenous access, vital signs monitoring and assessment, phlebotomy and other timed specimen collections including oral glucose tolerance tests.  We look forward to providing access to this important study for children in our region.
