The DISCOVERY Study at NYU Langone is led by Drs. Mary Pat Gallagher and Alan Jacobson. Dr. Gallagher is a Pediatric Endocrinologist with strong expertise in the clinical care of youth and young adults with diabetes, with over 15 years of experience in diabetes clinical research studies in youth and young adults. Dr. Gallagher is the Director of the Pediatric Diabetes Center at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone and the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes. She is also Medical Director of Fink Ambulatory Children’s Care Center at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone Health. Dr. Jacobson is a Psychiatrist who studies the psychological, social, and central nervous system effects of diabetes in children and adults. He is Professor at the NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine’s Foundations of Medicine Department.

The DISCOVERY Clinical Center at NYU Langone has four recruitment sites in New York with three Clinical Research Centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Long Island.

​​NYU Langone’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute provides investigators with dedicated clinical facilities and nursing and coordinator services for participants in translational and clinical research studies. The Clinical Research Center is staffed by nurses and clinical research coordinators who provide high-quality, safe, and courteous care to research participants. The facility, located at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, fourth floor, C/D Building, features one four-bay infusion suite for adults, one three-bay pediatric infusion site, one four-bay interview room, and a central nursing station.


The NYU Langone Brooklyn Clinical Research Center is located on the campus of NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. We offer access to all phases of translational research, in a variety of settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and community-based. Aligning with NYU Langone’s culture of excellence, to facilitate research in Sunset Park and surrounding communities, our dedicated, experienced, and multilingual team of research and healthcare professionals offers culturally competent care with a focus on expanding research in underserved communities.

​​​​​The Long Island Clinical Research Center is a full service resource, which supports industry, and government sponsored clinical studies. It has experienced physician researchers, laboratory facilities, and certified Clinical Research Coordinators (CCRC’s) to recruit and follow volunteers in all phases of clinical studies.
